  • iPtalk – International call package for S-Fone subscribers

    On November 26, 2009, S-Fone co-operated with IT Telecom Center (IPT), a member of Saigon Post and Telecommunications Services Corporation (SPT), to launch postpaid international call package iPtalk for 095-subscribers at a monthly all-in cost of VND350,000. With the cost, S-Fone subscribers have 200 minutes of VoIP calls made to fixed and mobile phone numbers of most common  call directions in 20 regulated countries.

    Portland, Ore., November 16, 2009 —
    At the SC09 Conference today, a group of leaders in the networking industry announced a key milestone in the migration to 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) technology by successfully demonstrating a multivendor 100Gbps routing and optical network. In this demonstration, 100Gbps of test data (generated by an Ixia test set) was transmitted from Portland to Seattle through a single slot on the Juniper Networks® T1600 Series Core Router, populated with a new 10x10GbE physical interface card (announced separately by Juniper today) via an Infinera optical system, over Level 3 and Internet2's nationwide fiber-optic network. The data was then looped back to Juniper's T1600 Series Core Router in Juniper's booth on the SC09 show floor in Portland.

  • Vietnam participates in AAG sea optical cable project

    April 27, three Vietnamese telecommunications companies and 15 regional and international telecom firms signed an agreement on the construction and maintenance of the AAG sea optical cable system in Malaysia.
    The three Vietnamese companies include the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Viettel and Saigon Postel (SPT).
     The AAG project has a total estimated capital of up to US$560 million, with the participation of 18 companies from countries in Southeast Asia and Asia - Pacific like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, the Philippines, the US and China’s Hong Kong.
